Lindblad & Co Helps Secon Oy Resolve Contract Dispute
Secon Oy found itself in a disagreement with a client over the amount of work completed under a framework agreement. Lindblad & Co stepped in to clarify the situation and guide Secon toward a solution. CEO Matti Soininen shares how the situation unfolded.
“The situation was challenging for both us and our client. The work took place at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made on-site communication difficult. Still, the project was urgent, so we completed the work as requested. At the same time, however, the underlying framework agreement that defined the work wasn’t as clear as it should have been. That combination is what caused the confusion,” Soininen explains.
“At first, we thought the situation was straightforward and that we wouldn’t need external help. But when payments still hadn’t come through after some time, we decided to bring in a law firm. From our perspective, the amount in question was significant.”
“Lindblad had assisted us before, so choosing them again was an easy decision. Their team immediately took charge of communicating with the client. Eventually, the situation progressed to the point where we prepared a formal complaint and notified the other party that we would take legal action if the issue wasn’t resolved. Fortunately, we never had to file it, as that’s when things started to untangle. It seems that once the lawyers began talking to each other, the situation turned out to be quite clear after all,” Soininen says.
“From our perspective, the outcome was good. Through the settlement, we received essentially exactly what we were seeking, and we learned a lot along the way. The team at Lindblad gave us helpful insights into what to pay attention to in the future so we don’t end up in a similar situation again.”
